Can I drive from Salvador to Itacare?
On the map it looks like an easy 500km, and when they put in a new road someday, it will be. For now, it is a very scenic and very uncomfortable 6 hour drive. The roads are one lane in each direction, directions can be confusing, and it is not safe to drive at night. Basic rental cars are very small with a trunk only big enough for two small duffel bags. But if you know Brazil well, and/or are up for an adventure, it is a beautiful drive and you will save the cost and hassle of flying.
