Can I drink water straight from the tap in India?
Depends upon where you are in India. We can all drink straight from the tap where we are. Most people do. They are all healthier than most of and survive . Yet many are sophisticated in Indian cities. They all have a water purifier in their houses. But foreigners are in such streilized and protected areas that they purchase drinking water. They are more scared of their advisory. Also it is safer no doubt. I have spent years in the US. No one actually drank tap water in general 10 years ago. All had sodas at one time. Gradually they started to. Drank from special taps meant for drinking. Now they have learnt fron us about importance of drinking water. But they all have filters in the kitchen for drinking water. Or they drink directly from the Frig tap. So US is no different from India in this manner.
