Can I donate funds for a specific location in Central Texas?

The short answer is yes, as long as it’s an area where we have partners, such as the Texas Department of Transportation, to provide labor to spread the seeds. Since all donations are used to buy seeds, we must have donated labor to spread them. Most donations that are designated for a specific site are for a mile of roadside right of way or a highway intersection. For larger donations, of $500 or more, donors get a memorial tribute cartoon by Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist Ben Sargent. The memorial cartoon was published in the Austin American-Statesman at the time of Mrs. Johnson’s death. If you have questions about a specific location, contact American-Statesman Community Development Director Retta Kelley at rkelley@statesman.com or Garden Editor Janet Wilson at jwilson@statesman.com to discuss your specific request.
