Can I donate clothing, blankets, canned goods, water or other items?
While we appreciated these offers, we cannot accept these types of donations. The cost to collect, manage and ship items is prohibitive. Financial contributions allow us to purchase exactly what is most urgently needed by disaster victims. In addition, cash donations allow relief supplies to be purchased at locations as near to the disaster site as possible. We do sometimes accept in-kind donations from companies or organizations that can provide needed valuable items in large quantities, such as building materials, tools, vehicles, or computers. Donation of goods must be approved by Mercy Corps, as we do not accept unsolicited items.
