Wyoming Pharmacy Act Rules and Regulations (Chapter 2, Section 17, Identification of a patient) states that a pharmacist or employee must verify the identity of any person receiving any drug at the time it is dispensed to that person. A driver’s license or similar identification form and is considered acceptable. Also acceptable is visual recognition when the patient is known to the pharmacist or employee. If someone other the patient is receiving the medication that the name of the person must be documented either on the prescription document, patient profile or a signature log.
