Ans:dRecently ,NSDL has announced a scheme that facilitates dematerialisation of shares sent for transfer.abriefly, the provcess is as follows: On completion of the process of registration of shares sent for transfer, the company or its R&T Agent will intimate the investor, providing an option to dematerialise such shares .The investor intending to exercise this option will have to send a demat request form alongwith the option letter sent by the company to his DP. The Company or its R&T Agent would confirm the demat request on its receipt from DP.This will avoid to and fro movement of share certificates and also reduce the risk of loss in transit. This sheme is applicable only for those companies, which have agreed to institute some additional procedures.
