Can I currently get historical swell predictions for a site based on the RD model coefficients?

Some limited model hindcast information can currently be produced when requested by researchers. CDIP currently has routine code to extract RD model transformation coefficients for a specific site from the model database and make historical predictions of swell (wave energy at periods of 8 seconds and longer) Hs and Tp for time periods when the Harvest Buoy and/or San Nicolas Island Buoy data exists (ie. March 1998 – present). The historical Harvest Platform data (1992-1998) is currently undergoing additional processing for use in the offshore spectra database. The estimated Harvest Platform wave spectra used to initialize the real time swell model from Jan 1996 to March 1998 were archived and can be used to make model predictions for that time period if this time period is truly critical. However, this “on-the-fly” data set is known to contain some suspect spectral estimates and is considered less reliable for the time being compared to using the post March 1998 buoy measurements.
