Can I create a PST file for Outlook Web Access users?
If the goal is for offsite users to use outlook to access an exchange account, if you are up for it, I’d suggest RPC over HTTPS. You mentioned that you have an exchange 2003 server. It is pretty easy to set up, and it allows offsite folks to access to full exchange account without the need for VPN or any super complicated firewall setup. It is better than POP3 because it is the whole mailbox, as well as public folders and the global address list. And it is more manageable. The users can still use OWA if they are away from their normal computer. I’ve done it for many clients and they all love it. Also, to be clear, once you have it set up, the client’s outlook will sync the whole mailbox with the server…synchronizing it will be way easier to manage and accomplish than sending the end-user a PST that is the whole mailbox. http://www.petri.co.il/configure_rpc_over_https_on_a_single_server.htm that is a fantastic article, but there are others out there…
