Although the Earth Ground connection provided by your access control panel may be utilized, Bioscrypt strongly recommends against utilizing the power ground connected provided by the access control panel as an Earth Ground for the Veri-Series reader. Power Ground typically does not provide a sufficient discharge path for ESD travelling through the Veri-Series reader. Before utilizing the Earth Ground connection provided by your access control panel, the resistance for this connection should be measured against a known earth ground to ensure that it measures less than 4 ohms. If the resistance measured is greater than 4 ohms, this will not provide a sufficient discharge path for ESD and should not be used for the Veri-Series reader’s earth ground connection.
