Not exactly – but you are close. Purchase a network print server for a USB printer (not serial printer). This small electronic device has a network port and a USB port as well as electric feed. HP makes very dependable units. You plug the device into the network and apply power as the manual will direct you. Then you must give it a static IP address on your LAN as it will direct you. After this is done you connect the printer and then configure each printer to use the printer – with the port being a TCP / IP port. This way all pcs can use it and it does not require one specific pc to be on the LAN always.
