Can I connect dbx equipment to my Hi-Fi or consumer gear?
You can if you properly match the levels and impedance. Most of our products operate at +4 dBu. Most consumer and Hi-Fi electronics operate at -10 dBV. Some of our products are switchable between the two operating levels. These devices will work fine in conjunction with consumer electronics. If you choose one of our products that does not have the operating level switch on the rear panel, chances are you will have to use line level matching devices, such as those shown below, to properly connect all of the equipment. These devices will also automatically convert between balanced and unbalanced connections.
