Can I configure the Digi Connect WiSP from the serial port instead of over the wireless connection?

Yes. You will need a null modem serial cable (crossover) and a PC with a serial port. Set the WiSPs serial port to “command” mode. Power it off. Flip it over and locate the 4 red and white dip switches close to the units serial port. Set them so that they are furthest away from the serial port (FAR). Power it back on. Then attach a serial cable between it and the PC. Open a terminal program with the following settings: 9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, no flow control. Press enter and you should see a login prompt. login: root password: dbps You can now configure the unit through the serial port. For the valid commands press “?”. You can also see the command reference manual on our website (http://www.digi.com/support) after doing a search on the Digi Connect WiSP. Remember to set the dip switches back to NORMAL mode after you are done configuring. Make sure you power the unit off when you do this.
