Can I compress TransXChange Documents?

Yes. XML is a verbose representation designed to afford some level of human readability. The TransXChange XML documents may be compressed significantly for storage and/or exchange: the compression process is completely independent and external to TransXChange itself and there are a number of well know open source approaches, such as gzip. See for example. Compression is still a topic of discussion and development, for example, see the W3 working group http://www.w3.org/XML/Binary/.
