Can I complete a J-School major under the four-year graduation plan?
With the exception of students admitted to the major directly upon their initial enrollment in the University, students are admitted to the School of Journalism and Mass Communication on a competitive, selective basis. The Four-Year Graduation Plan applies only to students who are admitted to major status by the second semester of their sophomore year. Your chance of completing a J-School major in four years is best if you are admitted into the program by the second semester of your sophomore year. If you are admitted into the program after your junior year, it is possible that you can graduate on time, but we cannot guarantee it. For the most part it will depend on your area of interest, class availability and priority status. Also, each student must complete a second major or a concentration area consisting of at least 24 s.h., of which 15 s.h. must be earned in advanced courses. These checkpoints show only the minimum requirements for a second area, not the requirements for a second
