Norton is very resource intensive, and very…rigorous in how it scans (that’s a nice way of saying it’s pretty dumb as a program and does not play well with other things). What this means: A) you will slow your system down even more. Add MacAfee, for instance, and you might as well just use a 486 with 8 megs of RAM. B) Norton will constantly flag the other application’s function and actions as something to worry about when it is not. It is worse with some programs than others, but great with none. Layered defense is a nice concept, but you are best off either using all of one “super-suite” like the full Norton or MacAfee suites (shudder) if you don’t care about performance, OR use Norton with a manual ‘scan when I want to’ program like Adaware from Lavasoft. Personally, I’d let your Norton subscription run out, and replace it with something better and less resource- greedy, like F-prot. I run F-prot and Windows Defender concurrently with no problem, and run Adware once in a while just
