Can I collect unemployment while claiming entitlement to workers compensation and/or while I am receiving workers’ compensation benefits?
As long as you can honestly certify that you are “ready, willing, and able” to work, you may be eligible for unemployment benefits. If you are suffering from an injury that keeps you from doing your usual work, but are able to do other less strenuous work, you should indicate that you are ready, willing, and able to work, subject to your physical limitations. If you are receiving workers’ compensation benefits, you probably will not be eligible for unemployment benefits. On the other hand, if the your employer is denying your workers’ compensation claim, or is still investigating the claim, until benefits are paid, you should be eligible for unemployment benefits.
