First of all, I am not 100% certain of my accuracy, but my advice to you would be get to citizens advice bureau as soon as possible for advice before you make any final decisions. I don’t know what the policy is at your place of work, but generally, if you have been employed for 26 continous weeks prior to 29 weeks pregnant, you are entitled to maternity pay/allowance from your work, job security and the right to request a reduction in work hours within reason and/or flexible working practices. If you had to be hospitalised due to pregnancy related reasons, if this occurs prior to 36 weeks (or before your chosen date of leave), your employment should class this as sick leave. If you have a pregnancy related illness after 36 weeks, they automatically start leave from this point. This is all dependant on if you qualify due to the 26 weeks continuous employment (sick leave included) by 11 weeks prior to giving birth (29 weeks pregnant).
