I get carers allowance for my partner and the current rate is £53.10p not £50.55 as it’s now gone up. And YES he can work and look after you, but it’s pay earned not hours. You can do over 16 hours a week as long as you do not earn over £95 a week! However it’s that most people who work two shifts of 8 hours will earn over £95. I can ALSO tell you it most certainly is NOT deducted from DLA as that is NOT means tested, but *Some* is dedcuted from Incapacity or Income support. In order to get carers allowance you need to get DLA. Taken from: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/CaringForSom… You may be eligible for Carer’s Allowance if you are aged 16 or over and you spend at least 35 hours a week caring for someone who is ill or disabled. Who can get Carer’s Allowance You need to be caring for somebody who is getting one of the following benefits: * Attendance Allowance * Disability Living Allowanc
