No, I have the Official PS3 Bluetooth Headset and when you charge it it turns it self off. I use the Official PS3 Bluetooth Headset for my iPhone, laptop, and PS3, I have tried everything to get it to do as you are asking but the PS3 automatically sets the ear piece to listen so you can talk to them but you cant hear them.
