Can i change my 4 month old rottweilers name?

I suppose. We got our collie/retriever from a pound in NYC at 2 years old, and proceeded to change her name from Julie to Brazelle, which is pretty drastic. Now, she’s about 8 and responds completely to her new name and doesn’t even respond to Julie.

I changed my dog’s name at age 8 months. It’s very easy. I despised the name she had when I got her. Within a week she was easily answering to the new one. If you called her now by her old name (I’ve tried), she doesn’t respond. Just start calling the dog the new name and reward it when it pays attention to you (either with praise or small treats). Your dog will learn fast. Keep in mind that shelters rename dogs all the time – they get dogs and have no idea what the dog’s previous name was or that it even had a name.

It isn’t a good idea to change the name as he/she will be just beginning to learn their name so you don’t want to confuse it. If you do, make sure you use the new name a lot with him/her and do not change it again after that. It may get confused at the beginning as it will time, but it is physically possible.
