Can i catch shingles whilst pregnant?
Shingles is the reactivated form of chicken pox. If you have already had chicken pox, you cannot “catch” Shingles. Shingles occurs spontaneously in a person who already had the chicken pox, and being around someone with Shingles will not cause you to get Shingles. As long as her lesions are covered and everyone practices good hand hygiene, you have nothing to worry about. You already had the virus and have built up antibodies against it and will not be reinfected with chicken pox. The only risk to your baby would come if you had NOT had chicken pox before.
