Can I carry a failing mark — ie, progress to the next year without having passed a module?

Yes – unless the module is defined by your programme as a ‘core module’. You must pass core modules in order to progress. For all other modules, it is possible to progress with a fail mark. But you MUST get a final mark at least in the condoned fail range in order to graduate. You will also NOT be able to graduate if you accumulate more than 45 credits with marks in the condoned fail range.
