Can I call myself an APN and/or use my Advanced Practice title if I have completed an APN program and/or if I’m nationally certified?
Texas offers title protection to those nurses who meet the requirements for full authorization as an APN. You must apply for and receive approval from the Texas Board of Nursing before you may claim to be an advanced practice nurse or hold yourself out as an advanced practice nurse in this state. You may not use a title or any other designation tending to imply that you are authorized as an advanced practice nurse without current authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing.
