If you can get wood for free or next to nothing go with wood but, if you are going to pay 150-200 for a cord of wood Coal may be your best choice. Kinda depends on how much work you are willing to put into gathering wood.There is a learning curve with any stove and the learning never stops. We heat our 3000ft home with wood and go through around 6 cords a year. I harvest all our wood myself so all I have in it is sweat and some gas for a saw.
