Can I buy a Q Plate and have it transfered to my vehicle?
Unfortunately the answer is no. The DVLA has decided that is not economically viable to offer Q prefix plates for sale or offer transfer facilities for owners of vehicles who already have Q plates assigned to their vehicles, due to the limited number of Q plated vehicles in existence. The Q plate is a consumer protection measure which allows the vehicle buyer to quickly and visually determine that the age and origins of a vehicle they may be considering buying, is uncertain. The DVLA wishes to retain this consumer protection measure and so such plates cannot be transferred to vehicle of known age or origin….
