You may have unlicensed elevator personnel, called elevator helpers, who are under the direct supervision of a certificate of competency holder perform work to construct, maintain, service, or repair any vertical conveyance . “Direct supervision” is defined in Section 61C-5.008, Florida Administrative Code. Florida statutes require elevator personnel who construct, install, maintain or repair elevators and vertical conveyances without direct supervision to be certified and licensed by the bureau.
