Can I borrow a book from the library or through Interlibrary Loan, scan it to pdf, and place it on my Blackboard course site?
Because of portion limitations, it is never okay to scan an entire book (or journal issue). You may post 10% of the book or journal issue on your Blackboard course site. If you want your students to read an entire book, you may place it on library reserve or require it as a textbook, which addresses Factor 4 of the fair use guidelines regarding the effect on the market for the book.
