Other answers are not correct. You dont need an NI no to get a tax refund. Your tax records will be held under a temporary NI number which is made up of your date of birth and sex. So, for example, if you were me, my temp NI number would be: TN211050F You need to complete a form P86 which you can downlaod from www.hmrc.gov.uk. Send it to your tax office asking them to issue a code number asap as you will sonn be returning home. If the code is not changed in time, you download a form P85 from the saem website and send it with your P45 to your tax office once you leave the UK.
