Can I apply to join the Housing Register if I don live in Thurrock?
People who live outside Thurrock can also apply to join our Housing Register if there is a local connection with the Borough. These applicants must meet at least one of the following situations which apply at the time of registration: • Have lived 3 years out of the last 5 years in Thurrock • Have lived 6 months out of the last 12 months in Thurrock • Work in Thurrock on a contract of not less than 2 years • Have close relatives who presently live in Thurrock and who have lived in Thurrock for at least the previous 5 years (such as parents, children, brothers, or sisters). • Living in temporary accommodation outside the Borough placed by Thurrock or the local primary care trust. • Living in a women’s refuge outside the borough and referred there by the Council or other Thurrock organisation, and living in Thurrock immediately prior to occupying the temporary accommodation.
