Can I apply the stone directly to an existing concrete surface?
A – Yes. Painted or sealed concrete surfaces must be sand blasted or equivalent to exposed clean concrete. Concrete surfaces must be saturated with water to prevent the moisture in the mortar from being absorbed into the surface. This will cause the application mortar to be weak. If proper bonding is in question, wire mesh should be applied to the surface. Gouging the wall with a grinding tool will help the bonding.
