Can I afford to go to Cambridge or Oxford University?

I know Oxford is about six grand a year which is the same for all other universities in the UK so if you can afford one of them, you can afford any of them. You’ll have the option of getting a student loan, worth around £20,000, from your local council. The vast majority of people do this even if their parents can easily afford to pay all of the fees because it works more expensive if you pay for them now (ie. lose out on potential interest gained from saving) than if you were to get a loan (where the interest rate is lower on borrowing than it is for saving). If you have special circumstances, like your parents earn less than £35,000 p.a., then you’re liable for a grant, again from your local council, which of course you won’t have to repay. So basically, the thing for you to concern yourself with now is not worrying about whether you can afford it or not, because I’m quite sure you will, but to think about preparing for the entrance requirements. Good luck with it all and I can give
