Can I add maps from websites like Multimap to childrens work that is then published on the web?

Multimap allows use within the classroom, as long as there is no commercial gain. You can not incorporate the maps into resources as the original maps do not belong to Multimap, and you can not distribute the maps either. However, West Sussex County Council has a license to use Ordnance Survey maps, this licence is also for schools.
