You can write additional data (Sessions) on a CD-R/RW which has been written to on a different system however, not necessarily different software. As long as the disc has not been finalized and there is sufficient free capacity for the data you wish to add you can add it in a new session. It is important to note that each session decreases the overall capacity of the CD-R/RW. Also, once a CD-R is full it cannot be erased or written to again. A CD-RW on the other hand can be erased in whole.
