Can hypnotherapy help everyone and all problems?
There are those clients for whom hypnotherapy will not be effective, for example those with psychosis. In addition, psychological problems cannot be viewed simply as discrete conditions that will get better with the right treatment. Many variables exist which can influence therapy and its effectiveness, such as concomitant physical problems, familial, social or economic circumstances. Many people will benefit from analysis alone, but if one were to expect that hypnotherapy, or indeed any therapy, can simply deliver happy adjusted people in every case then one may be disappointed. Everyone who engages in therapy will benefit, but the level of that benefit will vary for each person, with some completely overcoming their problems and others who will need more time to achieve an enduring resolution to their inner conflicts. The therapist and client need to be aware of the other factors at play which can influence the outcome of therapy, such as, readiness and desire to change, support and
