Can HSV infect other areas besides the mouth and genital areas?
HSV can infect the eyes, resulting in herpes keratitis. The symptoms of this condition are pain, light sensitivity, discharge, and a gritty feeling in the eye. Scarring of the eye may result unless the infection is treated promptly with drugs that eliminate infection and prevent severe scarring in the cornea.
