Can hospitals perform dna testing right after birth of a child before giving the bby the right last name?
They don’t do them at the hospital, and signing the birth certificate is a personal choice. If you sign it, the baby gets your last name. It ONLY means he/she gets your last name. Nothing else. In order to do child support, etc. they will perform a DNA test even if you signed the birth certificate. Once the DNA test is done and it is not your child you can get his/her last name changed very easily in the first week or so since their social security card and such wont be printed. *WHOEVER SAID IT MEANS YOU ASSUME ALL RESPONSIBILITY IS WRONG, YOU STILL HAVE TO BE DNA TEST FOR CHILD SUPPORT WHETHER YOU SIGNED IT OR NOT.
