Can High Tech Fabric Guard Be Used on My Tapestries and Carpets?
Yes. 303 High Tech Fabric Guard is excellent protection against soiling and staining on all synthetic and natural fibers. With older fabrics, however, you should take extra care before treating. Here are application instructions enhanced for use on tapestries, antique and imported fabrics and carpeting. 1) Use only on new or newly cleaned fabric and carpeting. 2) Test for colorfastness. Your cleaner can be helpful here, but always test for colorfastness anyway just to make sure. Spray a hidden area of the fabric with 303 HTFG. Rub the sprayed area with a clean, white absorbent cloth. If any color comes off, DO NOT USE. Unlike fabrics manufactured in recent years in the U.S., imported and antique fabrics and carpets are not necessarily colorfast. Since some tapestries and imported and antique carpets are complicated pieces with multiple colors, some colors will appear in one area that do not appear elsewhere.
