Can hearing impaired become Ski Patrol?

0

As long as you have the means to communicate with a patient, perform medical assessments and the necessary 1st Aid, and communicate with other members of the patrol by radio, I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t be able to join the NSP. If you can’t use a radio, skiing with a patrol partner is always an option. Patrollers often ski in pairs or groups and being able to use a radio isn’t always the most important thing. There are also Auxillary Patrollers who are usually dedicated solely to medical rooms, driving snowmobiles used for transports, and other jobs. Many of these positions don’t require the use of a radio (much.) Speak to your local ski patrol director about your interest and go from there. Also…if your goal is to give something back to skiing and NSP is something that won’t work out for you, becomming an Adaptive Skiing Instructor is also another option.
