Can grid-style support plates be used with plastic packings?
They are not generally recommended, as plastic packings tend to extrude through the openings and be cut by the thin vertical tines of the supports. The one exception would be grids with expanded metal over the top. This option, however, is not usually recommended because it tends to flood more easily and is usually more expensive than the vapor injection support plates.
