Can glockenspiel players play the melody and harmony simultaneously?

I have to take issue with Jay’s answer. It is VERY unusual to require a Glockenspiel player to use more than ONE mallet in each hand. The narrowness and close proximity of the chime bars to one another make this an impractical thing to do (you will, however, sometimes see marimbas being played with two beaters in each hand). You should not write a part which cannot be played by one mallet in each hand. There are examples (mostly in French music) of parts written for a ‘keyed Glockenspiel’ (a little like a celeste), but these are not commonly available. Even music written for these will only contain music of one melodic line.
