Single phase General Purpose transformers rated 3KVA and above can be reverse connected with no loss in capacity and with voltage stability. Single phase units rated 2KVA and below have compensated windings. These may be reverse connected, but the output voltage will be less than nameplate due to the compensation factor of the windings.
