Can Fruit Trees Save the Planet?
The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation FTPF is a non-profit organization that plans to plant 18 billion fruit trees around the world. By planting three trees for each person alive, FTPF intends to reverse the effects of climate change – feed hungry people – connect communities – and undo the environmental damage caused by generations of soil damaging farming practices. I love this concept and think it just may work. I first found out about FTPF’s founder, David “Avocado” Wolfe, when I watched the film Food Matters. He is a raw foodist and an advocate for health, nutrition and the environment. His vision for FTPF encompasses all four of those things, while building relationships within communities for generations to come. FTPF operates five beneficial programs consisting of: Fruit Relief – strategically plants fruit trees in areas where the harvest will most benefit hungry, poor, and needy people—such as homeless shelters, low-income communities, and international hunger relief sites.
