Can flea beetles withstand long, harsh winters?
Flea beetles have proven they can survive the long, harsh winters common in the northern Great Plains by establishing populations and controlling leafy spurge. There is some speculation, however, that a lack of snow cover to provide insulation, combined with extended periods of extremely cold weather, can adversely impact flea beetle populations. Additional research into the topic is needed.
