Can Fallopian Tubes be Untied?
Tubal ligation (known colloquially as “having your tubes tied”) is a form of female sterilization that prevents pregnancy by blocking, cutting or cauterizing the fallopian tubes in order to prevent an egg from reaching the uterus. Tubal ligation is considered nearly 100 percent effective, although cases of accidental pregnancies following the procedure have been recorded. In some cases, a woman who has undergone tubal ligation may wish to have the procedure reversed. This is called tubal ligation reversal and is possible in most cases, although pregnancy after the procedure is not always possible.
