Can exercise reduce breast milk supply?
Excessive exercise can, and moderate exercise is good for mom. When you exercise you need to hydrate adequately. What is the most effective contraceptive to use while breastfeeding? Oral contraceptives: only a progestrerone-only contraceptive (oestrogen will block prolactin hormone) e g. “Microval” known as the “Minipill”, the pill should be taken at the same time every day (tip: put it with your toothbrush or deodorant as a reminder). Please note: if you get gastro or are on antibiotics it will affect the pill’s efficacy and you would need additional protection e.g. condom. Injectables: Nur isterate (8-week) or Progestogen (12-week) which are also Progesterone-only Mechanical methods: condom or intra-uterine contraceptive device. Natural methods can be tricky as some moms do not menstruate for quite a while, which makes it difficult to accurately determine ovulation.
