Tuesday January 30, 2007 High blood pressure during pregnancy, called gestational hypertension, is a serious problem that can harm both pregnant women and their babies. A study about to begin in Amhurst, MA, aims to discover whether exercise between pregnancies can prevent gestational hypertension. Funded by a 5 year, $2.2 Million National Institutes of Health grant, the study will track 364 women over a period of several years to discover if a custom designed exercise and fitness program can decrease the incidence of this important disease.
