Can Epiphany Spellcheck?

I am trying my best to move from Firefox/Iceweasel to Epiphany. I’ve adjusted to it’s idiosyncracies and even gotten like most of them. The one blocker that I can’t seem to solve is Spellcheck. I’ve googled till I’m crosseyed, and all I find is assurances that it should work … since version 2.16. I’m running version 2.18. I must admit that my installation comes from Debian Experimental, and that may be part of the problem. Does spellcheck work in Epiphany on your machine?
