Can endoscopic / Laparoscopic surgery can be performed in obese patients ?

0

Obese patients have larger surface area of abdominal wall and if subjected to conventional surgery, they will require larger incisions and therefore chances of complications of incision i.e. pain, infection and hernia are more than general population. For obese patients, endoscopic surgery is much more beneficial. Secondly, since these patients can restore movements much earlier after endoscopic surgery than conventional surgery, complication like deep vein thrombosis etc which are seen in these group of patients are negligible. Even the obesity itself can be treated permanently after BARIATRIC Surgery so as to get rid of complication of obesity like diabetes, hypertension.
