Can endometriosis be missed on Laparoscopy?
Absolutely – whether the endometriosis is found depends largely on the skill and experience of your surgeon. It can often be in odd places, and its appearance can vary widely; if your surgeon doesn’t have the necessary training and experience s/he may not recognize it. First, I’d ask about that abdominal and pelvic CT scan which showed “the appearance of extensive endometriosis” – what exactly did they see that led them to believe there was endometriosis, and what did it turn out to be when they actually looked inside? Second, I’d collect all my records and find an endometriosis specialist and get a second opinion. Unfortunately, many women have to go to several different doctors before they find a specialist to help them. I’m including links to some sites which should be helpful to you; good luck!
