Can drugs, medications or blood transfusion affect the test results ?

0

DNA tests are not affected by drugs, medications, or blood transfusion. However, because blood is made in the bone marrow, testing of blood from individuals who have had a bone marrow transplant may give DNA results that will reflect the donor, rather than the recipient. Therefore, testing of transplanted individuals should be done using other specimens, such as buccal swabs (see question #2). Tested individuals are asked to give information regarding any blood transfusions and/or bone marrow or stem cell transplantation.
